Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the difference between Fall and Spring seasons?
A: The fall season is typically between September and November and is geared more toward instruction and Oldsmar little league offers clinics for softball and baseball. The spring season is typically the end of February through May and offers more competitive play for the upper divisions, leading to All-Stars selection.

Q: What will my schedule be?
A: Schedules are made close the start of the season as it is based on the leagues enrollment numbers for each division. Most teams can expect to practice 1 day a week and play games twice a week. In the fall season, divisions could also have a night for clinic. The games and practices are typically held Monday through Thursday nights, as well as Saturdays. The exception is tournments, which can be varied times.

Q: What does the cost of registration cover?
A: The player's uniform (Fall = Shirt and Hat, Spring = Shirt, Hat, Pants, and Socks), Clinics (for Fall), a concession duty deposit, as well as other league operating costs (i.e. lights, trash, equipment, etc)

Q: What equipment does the league provide?
A:  The league makes every attempt to provide a fun, fair, and safe environment for all players and volunteers. The league provides access to catchers gear, umpire gear, batter's helmets, as well as balls and training aides (such as Tee's).

Q: What additional items might be needed?
A: Players at all levels should have a comfortable fielding glove. A mit is allowed for a catcher and firstbaseman only. A bat that is suited to the players size and strength is also a good investment, the bat should not be wieldy and the player should be able to hold the wieght of the bat at arms length for 20 secs without struggling. Juniors and Seniors may use a 2-5/8 barrel bat (No 2-3/4 Barrel Bats!). Other levels must use a 2-1/4 barrel bat. How to choose a bat

Q: How do I make my Local League better for the Kids?

A: You can make a huge difference in your Local League and make it better for Everyone, by being a Volunteer. There are many roles that you can do as a Volunteer, Board Member, Umpire, Manager, Coach, Team Mom, Score Keeper, Concession Helper, member of a Commitee, if you can't do any of them, your League could always use help with phone calls or stuffing envelopes in search of returning players or Sponsors. Check with your Local League to see how you can make a difference in not only your childs life, but to a whole Leagues worth of children. "The Parents of millions of Little Leaguers combined with their children, league officails, umpires, managers, coaches, and countless volunteer agencies including sponsors, represent an imposing cross section of our world. Parents must take the initiative to make the local program successful. Little League is not a club in which membership implies babysitting benefits and entertainment privileges. Practically speaking, Little League is an adult work project constructed, supervised and assisted by parents who want to extend that benefit to their children. The Parent who shirks this resonsibilty cannot, in turn, expect others to assume the burden." (Official Regulations & Playing Rules of LLB)
